Organic Barley Flakes
are a terrific change from oatmeal.
Steamed and rolled, the cereal
can be eaten hot or cold, and can be used in recipes calling for oatmeal
for a change of flavor.
RECIPE
Barley Nut Cookie:
Ingredients:
2 eggs, beaten
1/2 c. canola oil
1/2 c. honey*
1/2 c non fat dry milk powder*
1 1/4 c. barley flakes*
1/2 c wheat germ*
1/2 t sea salt*
1/4 t. ground cloves*
1 t. ground cinnamon*
1/2 c. chopped walnuts*
In a bowl combine wet ingredients.
In second bowl combine dry
ingredients.
Stir wet into dry.
Let stand for 30 min til
barley flakes absorbed the liquid.
Drop by teaspoonful onto
greased baking sheet and bake at 325ºF. for 12 minutes.
