These natural,
non-alcoholic flavors are perfect for the health-conscious cook because
they contain no colors, sugar, salt, artificial ingredients or
preservatives of any kind.
Since these flavors are made without
alcohol, they are not as aromatic as extracts, but still impart full
flavor in each recipe.
The Pineapple Flavoring imparts strong pineapple flavor in any recipe and is especially great in the torte
recipe below.
Without alcohol as a base, these flavorings work
well for those suffering from candida.
RECIPE
NUT TORTE
INGREDIENTS:
* 2 cups pecans, chopped
* 4 eggs, separated
* 1 cup cane juice crystals
* 2 tbsp. unbleached all
purpose flour
* 1/2 tsp. sea salt
* 1/2 tsp. baking powder
* 1 tsp. Spicery Shoppe Black Walnut Flavor
* 1 tbsp. orange juice
* 1 cup whipping cream
* 1 tsp. orange peel granulated
* 6 ozs. carob chips, semi-sweet
* 1/2 cup sour cream
* 1 tsp. Spicery Shoppe Pineapple Flavor
Directions: Preheat oven to 350 ºF.
Beat the egg yolks in a mixture until thick and light.
Beat in the sugar.
Stir in the flour, salt, baking powder, orange juice, and nuts.
Beat the egg whites until stiff and fold them in.
Add black walnut and pineapple flavors.
Grease 2 eight inch layer cake pans and line with greased wax paper.
Bake for 25 minutes or until cake tester comes out clean.
Cool 5 minutes on a wire rack.
Remove from pans.
Before serving, put the layers together with whipping cream flavored with grated orange rind.
Melt the chocolate chips in a double boiler.
Stir in the sour cream.
When well mixed, spread over torte.
Garnish with nuts.
