 Oat flour is made from hulled oat groats (hulled and cleaned).  Oat flour is often ground from rolled oat or oatmeal.

Oat flour provides a nutlike flavor and adds texture to breads and many baked goods.  

Oats are not gluten free but are lower in gluten content than wheat and needd wheat in the recipe for proper leavening.

When used in combination with wheat it lends moistness to bread, helping bread remain fresh longer. 


Try this simple OAT BREAD RECIPE for your bread machine or oven:

1 1/2 cup     Whole Wheat Bread flour
1 1/2 cup     Oat flour
1 Tbsp          Saf-yeast Instant dry yeast
1 tsp            Cane juice crystals sugar
1 Tbsp          Butter
1/2 tsp         Sea salt
1 1/4 cup      Warm water

Mix warm water, yeast and sugar in pan.

Add flour then butter and salt on top of the flour.

Use the 3 hour or white bread cycle, push start.
