Wheat is the staff of life.
It is the basis
for most flours found in stores today. However, the whole grain can
be added to your diet for variety and unique dishes.
RECIPE
WHOLE WHEAT CASSEROLE:
3 c. tomato juice
1 c. wheat berries
1 medium onion chopped
1 lb ground beef
2 cloves garlic minced
1/2 c chopped green pepper
1 c. corn
1/2 t. oregano
1/2 t. salt
1 c. grated cheese
Bring tomato juice to boil.
Add wheat
berries and simmer, covered on stove til tender, 1 hour.
While cooking,
brown ground beef.
Add onions, garlic and green pepper and continue
cooking til vegetables are tender.
Combine all ingredients except cheese
in a casserole.
Top with cheese and bake at 350º F. for 15 min til cheese
is bubbly.
