| Sweet
basil has a strong clove-like scent. The warm, spicy taste of
this herb combines well with garlic and tomatoes and is found in most
Italian recipes.
Folk remedies have used sweet basil
to aid digestion and relieve flatulence and this claim has been upheld by
modern pharmacology. Research shows that extracts of the plant
inhibit organisms that cause dysentery.
