Coriander seed and Cilantro come from the same plant.
The Coriander seeds have
no Sage like flavor, just a simple taste of Citrus.
Coriander seed enhances the flavor in chili and combines well with
beets, onions, sausages, clams, oysters, and potatoes.
Coriander seed is necessary in any curry dish and is sometimes used
to flavor cookies, pastries or breads, sausage or whole corned
beef.
It was an aphrodisiac for
ancient Egyptians and a wine flavoring for the Greeks. The
seed is a claimed to have a mild sedative effect, aid digestion, reduce
flatulence and ease migraines. Although we found no proof of its
effectiveness.
The essential oil from the
seeds is used in perfumes and incense, flavors medicine and toothpaste and
