ginger, ground

Ginger comes from
the root of a tropical plant grown in India, China and Jamaica. The
root is dried and then ground to a powder.
Ground ginger has quite a different flavor than
ginger root and the two are not interchangeable. Ground ginger has a
sweet, warm aroma and a spicy flavor.
Ginger can be combined with onions and garlic and
ginger enhances quick breads, puddings, muffins, cakes and cookies.
Ginger is frequently used in beverages, fruit salads, meats, poultry, and
fish, preserves, pickles, squash, carrots, beets, pumpkin, rhubarb,
and peaches. | NutritionFacts per
