Sweet marjoram has a sweeter, spicier taste than oregano. The flavor is pervasive and so should be used with discretion.

Marjoram is a basic herb in Italian cooking, spaghetti sauce, poultry stuffing and sausages.

Marjoram makes one of the best herb butters.  Use Marjoram on hot vegetables, squash, potatoes, lima or green beans.  Use in egg dishes stews, soups, gravies and with fish or meats.

Cultivated in ancient Egypt, Shakespeare compared it to a "virtuous gentlewoman".  Marjoram is used as a wash water scent and to clean furniture.
