same tree in the East Indies. The peach-like fruit is edible and the pit or seed is the source of the nutmeg and mace.
Nutmeg is from the center of the pit or seed.
Nutmeg is always best when freshly ground and is used to flavor desserts, sausage and pickles.
Nutmeg is also even burned as incense.
