Smoked salt is an aromatic edible salt with smoke flavoring and is a spice used as a shortcut to add smoked flavor to foods.  Smoked salt consists mainly of sea salt and smoke.

Smoked sea salt is smoked over a clean, slow burning hickory wood fire. Over time, the smoke infuses the salt and creates a mild, but distinct smoked flavor. 

Smoked salt lends to dishes of all types a smoky, ham-like flavor and is therefore also gladly used by vegetarians.

This is a coarse grind salt that lends itself well to making your own steak and rib rubs for those times that you just can't fire up the grill.
