Black bean flakes are cooked black
beans that have been dried and then chipped.
They are easily re-hydrated by soaking 1/3 cup of flakes in 1/3 cup
boiling water for about 15-30 minutes.
To the re-hydrated bean flakes add hot
peppers and some Mexican spices and use as a bean dip or fill a burrito.
Thinned with milk or cream it can be used to make black bean
bisque. Add to soups or
casseroles as a thickener with unique flavor.
Replace chickpeas with black bean flakes for a unique Hummus.
When
adding to soups or other recipes with plenty of liquid, you can add the
bean flakes directly into the food while cooking. | NutritionFacts Serving
